Katie Van Slyke’s Crew Creates a Hilarious “Hoot and Holler” Challenge at the World Show
The Cinch Horsemanship Challenge was about to begin—but Katie Van Slyke and her friends had another competition to settle first.
With plenty of cheering expected from the crowd, the group decided to find out who could deliver the best “hoot and holler.”
What followed was a hilarious series of predictions, practice attempts and very enthusiastic noises.
The talented horses and riders may have been the main attraction, but Katie’s crew was determined to provide a show of its own from the sidelines.
Everyone Chose a Favorite
Before the cheering began, each member of the group introduced themselves and predicted who would have the best performance.
Katie selected Nathan, while Nathan placed his confidence in Stephanie.
Stephanie predicted that Elena would have the best hoot—but apparently not the best holler.
“No holler, just hoot,” she clarified.
Elena then chose Katie, declaring that she would have the best “hoot, girl.”
Katie, however, wanted to make one thing clear: she planned on doing both.
“I’mma be hollering too,” she joked. “We’re not just hooting.”
Rachel predicted that Matt would take the title, while Matt divided his vote. He thought Rachel would have the best hoot but Stephanie would produce the better holler.
With the predictions officially recorded, there was only one thing left to do:
Put them to the test.
Things Quickly Became Competitive
One by one, members of the group attempted their best crowd cheers.
Some delivered traditional whoops, while others tried to create something a little more distinctive. Not every attempt went according to plan, and the practice session quickly dissolved into laughter.
At one point, someone was accused of stealing another person’s cheer—prompting a joking allegation of “stolen valor.”
Others wanted another opportunity after deciding their first attempt wasn’t strong enough.
Between the false starts, dramatic reactions and increasingly creative noises, it became clear that choosing a winner would not be easy.
The group may not have agreed on who produced the best sound, but they certainly had plenty of fun trying.
Serious Talent With a Fun Atmosphere
The silliness took place just before the Cinch Horsemanship Challenge, an event Katie and her crew were genuinely excited to watch.
Katie made a point of praising the horses and riders, describing them as fantastic competitors.
The playful cheering contest didn’t take anything away from that appreciation. Instead, it captured the lively atmosphere surrounding a major horse show, where friends can support talented competitors while still finding ways to entertain themselves between events.
